MediDecoder Becomes an Integral Part of Our Client’s Practice, Benefiting All
Historically, Hawaii Pathologists Laboratory (HPL) managed in-house billing with technology and hybrid services that became unmanageable due to ineffective internal management and challenging external partners. After years of struggling with RCM issues, MediDecoder was introduced to HPL’s physician leadership through a current/former client and connections in the pathology community. The strength of MediDecoder's reputation and relationships led to this significant opportunity. After thoroughly evaluating the billing operations, it became clear what needed to be done.
Solution
MediDecoder initially conducted a thorough review of current operations and managed a review of RCM companies, including MediDecoder, for the full outsourcing of billing and collections. Although it was clear who would win the bid, MediDecoder competed fairly and strongly, ultimately securing the long-term contract for RCM services. The success continued when HPL appointed MediDecoder's Pathology & Diagnostic Medicine President as their consulting Practice Manager, with a contract starting through 2022.
Results
Since then, MediDecoder and HPL have collaborated on numerous key priorities, benefiting both HPL and MediDecoder through their partnership. Operations at HPL have been revamped, transparency has been restored among staff and physicians, financials are now regularly distributed and analyzed, and compliance policies and communication have been reintroduced. The consulting Practice Manager visits Honolulu monthly to contribute value to HPL and strengthen the relationship between HPL and MediDecoder
